Carlos Cabeza: Silent Materialism

October 8, 2015

O. Ascanio Gallery is honored to present its third solo exhibition on the work of Paris-based painter Carlos Cabeza, following his debut exhibition in Wynwood in 2010 titled Rhythmic Painting.

A participant of the Venezuelan vanguard including artists Jesús Soto, Alejandro Otero, and Victor Lucena, Carlos Cabeza is concerned with perceptible structuralism, using geometry and color to postulate spatial relations.

Cabeza’s work stimulates sensation through charged networks of incongruent materiality in a motley of exuberant color palettes. Geometric shapes, female bodies, furniture, abstract expressionist brushstrokes, and meticulous painting techniques all float in a dimensional space unruled by our kind of physicality.
